Our favorites places to experience the Sint Maarten nightlife
While on the friendly island, getting a taste of the Sint Maarten nightlife is a must. You’re on vacation – celebrate that with your favorite cocktails and best dance moves. The wide variety of bars and clubs is sure to have something worth sacrificing a few hours of sleep. Furthermore, there’s no work awaiting you in the morning, so there really is no excuse anyways, right? Out of the many options scattered across Saint Martin and Sint Maarten, we have found all our favorites to be located on the Dutch side, especially Simpson Bay. This is our current list of favorites.
The best Sint Maarten nightlife locations
Mykonos
This ocean club is located on the water in Maho Beach. It is open every Friday and Saturday during high season (November to April) starting at 10 and has a minimum age requirement of 21. This club has a true European party feel to it and hosts some of the best DJs in the area. Dance the night away to the best house hits in the world. Many of the local Dutch and French residents celebrate their island life freedom here. This was our favorite nightlife location if it was a busy night. It helps to look at their Facebook page, as well as that of Lotus, the next bar on our list, to see if either one of them has a special event going on. On Friday and Saturday, usually one of the two places is lit. The trick is to find out which one.
Lotus
Another favorite is Lotus. This club is located in Simpson Bay and is the hot spot among all the tourists, mainly coming from the United States and Canada. This club has ladies’ night on Wednesday and is also open on Friday and Saturday. There is often a theme for the night which can be found on their Facebook page: Lotus Nightclub Sxm | Philipsburg Sint Maarten | Facebook. This club is 18+ and the music style features the best pop and rap hits.
Soggy Dollar
Soggy Dollar is the place to be Tuesday night! This is their Latin Night. They offer salsa lessons at 7pm and the party starts thereafter. Many locals as well as many tourists head to this outdoor club to enjoy the live band and DJ mix and show off their best salsa moves. Rockin’ Hard Thursdays with a live rock band as well as Cocktails Saturdays and After Hours Sundays are also theme nights at Soggy Dollar. Pick a theme and enjoy the night in Simpson Bay.
District 721
If you are more of the stand back and people watch while sipping your cocktail kind of person, District 721 is your place. This club has many different bars and mini restaurants/food trucks to keep you satisfied the whole night. It is also easier to talk with your friends or strike up a conversation with a stranger since there are many places where you can hangout without having to dance. However, in the middle there is of course plenty of room for the dancers. There are usually fire or dance shows to enjoy as well. With a central location in Simpson Bay, many tourists as well as locals can be found here.
Roxxy
Looking for a great upscale beach party? Roxxy is the place to be! Home to the best DJs and performers, this beach club is sure to leave lasting memories. There are usual events such as TGIF Friday nights, BBQ Beach days on Saturdays, and Sunday Brunch. The beach parties are the best, which is once or twice a month and can be found on their website: Roxxy Beach | Sint Maarten’s premier beach restaurant. However, it should be noted that they sometimes charge a cover fee. Depending on the event, it can be up to $20.
Sand Bar
If you like Karaoke and starting the night easy with a few drinks before heading to the club, check out the Sand Bar. Located right next to Mykonos in Maho Beach, this bar is such a fun place to hang out with friends or family once the sun has gone down. They also have some beach games, which makes the perfect spot for a date night or family night.
Karakter
Enjoy the live music and fun, beachy atmosphere at Karakter. Especially the Sunday beach parties are highly recommended. This restaurant/bar is located just outside of the center of Simpson Bay. Sit back and relax at your table or go up to the stage and dance the night away. Both are a great time.
